What is up with Africans and kissing? How come watching fellow Africans kiss on TV gives me such an uncomfortable feeling. Is it because we grew up with scenes of white people kissing or that Africans have a rough way of kissing (a friend said it looks rough and raw because we have big lips) …mmm, i dont know about that but it sure is raw in a thats-too-much-i-don’t-really-want-to-see kinda way.
Seriously, mzungus on TV have a way of kissing that’s soft and easy to watch compared to their African counterparts. Watch all the African movies whether Nollywood, Riverwood or Bongowood and you’ll see. Maybe the kiss directing in white films is choreographed differently perhaps for aesthetics, if that’s possible, and our brothers and sisters in African movies are left to ’eat’ out each others lips.
I don’t know, but every time i watch a kissing scene in an african movie, i’m amazed at how hungry we go at each other, even when the kiss is slow and soft, we always manage to look like we are crazily chewing out each other. maybe its time script writers and film directors began to show as many kissing scenes on our tv’s as possible. that way, we can get used to our way of kissing.
What thinketh you.
You know who itis
